Yarbo crawls with Vision on

Today with the new yarbo lawnmower module first mow was a surprise as Yarbo was literally crawing with random bursts of set mowing speed (medium)
This video demonstrates it. It’s slow, then when doing a smart turn, it does it in normal speed and then ~ 1:50 randomly picks up set (Medium speed) and after that also wiggles couple of times.

These were the area settings:

No (not even ghost) obstacles are detected in app

Fixed the issue only by disabling the vision (rely only on bumper). But that’s not a viable solution as vision are needed in some areas.

Ticket raised #211893.

Wondering if anyone has seen or experiences something like this?

Was that saying your front camera was blocked? If it is, it’s expected since it uses vision to slow down for the “gentle” contact.

You can use a vision zone in the spots where you want cameras to be used. But make sure your cameras are clean.

Cameras were clean. Alert was for left camera blocked, but when opening the vision screen, all camera images were ok.

And that is still not explaining those random rapid moments where yarbo decided to mow on set speed.

Those rapid movements seemed to be at the end of the zig zag when it was turning around on the first pass. Is it on a slope at all over 5%? Hard to tell in the video. If it was, it was probably adaptive slope.

In video starting from 1:50 it did almost whole stripe in set speed.
And no - there is no slope at all. + Yarbo has been mowing the area several times already and always at set speed.

Basically it looks like yarbo was in it’s slow-down mode which it uses before the gentle contact. Not sure if obstacle is detected by camera or ultrasonic sensors.
However in app no red spots appeared.
So either way Yarbo was ready for conact with something only Yarbo saw in front and it wasn’t there.

I guess we will have to see what @Yarbo-Forum thinks about it.

Does camera has dirt? Any camera dirt notification pops up?

Only notifications about blocked left or right cameras. But as far as I understand they are not used in obstacle deteciton when mowing.

Additionally - with previous mower module everything was working perfect with all vision settings I have. This issue appeared when I put on the new mower module which was sent to replace old one which had the “adjusting blades” issue and dead blade height adjustment.

So definetely there is something wrong with the new mower module. Hopefully that can be addressed with software fix and won’t require shipping of new mower module again.

I don’t think this is a hardware issue. Only software. Have you pulled the battery cable for 5 mins and reconnected/booted to see if that clears it up?

Not yet. I powered off the Yarbo, connected the module and that’s it. Now it’s working all the time not to let grass overgrow.
Most probably will have to do the battery voodoo thing, but nevertheless looking forward what support guys have to say about this. They should be able to tell from logs what exactly is causing the crawling.

Have you tried without Boundary Object Detection?

Yep. The same is for areas without boundary obstacle avoidance.

Now tried again - with vision on (and bundary obstacle avoidance off but this is nort boundary of the area, it’s middle)

Approx the same place without vision.

No warnings about any camera issues

Cameras are also fine

P.S. - same is also in dry grass when there is no moisture coming up from the mower module.
P.S.S. - was mowing the same areas even in rain with no issues with my previous mower module.

One more thing which also changed between the mower modules were swapped, is the antennas .. I’ve put HA-609 instead of the original ones

Tomorrow I could try to put back the original ones and see if it makes any difference, however I can’t figure out ANY logical explanation how antennas could affect the Yarbo’s behavior using vision … unless they are emitting something which interferes with ultrasonic sensors

and by the way - i’m looking at this now

Not sure what it should show there when there is nothing in front of yarbo …

Is this a Pro or M1 mower? This value is normal if you have the M1. The sensor isn’t used. If it’s the Pro, that doesn’t look right.

From pics it is M1

It’s M1 mower

Understood. That value is normal for the M1. It’s sure looks to be behaving like it’s in Gentle Contact mode when vision sees something. I’m with @bryan.wheeler on the battery disconnect and full reboot.

That value is infinite because those sensors are disabled on the M1.

Disconnected the battery for one and a half hours. Kept power button pressed for a minute without battery.
Unfortunately none of that made any difference nor solved the issue.
