Yarbo is out of boundary by 4.9ft (1.5m)

Over the past 2 or 3 weeks I’ve been sporadically getting the error message “Plan Paused Yarbo is out of boundary by 4.9ft (1.5m). Please drive it back into the work area and resume the work again.” If I don’t monitor Yarbo while mowing it will sit waiting for for authorization and I don’t get the mowing complete during the HOA acceptable hours.

Each time I simply press Resume and it continues mowing. No"driving" on my part.

I mentally equate the start of this issue with the release of the last firmware update, BUT I did not take precise notes to confirm that timing.

As the attached images will show, it is clearly inside the boundaries. In most cases it is squarely in the center of a large Area as seen in the 1st image. For the second image the M1 mower is near a 8" raise cement patio (the arch in the image) so it literally could not be out of bounds.

I did a Map Drift Correction before starting the session/occurrence in 1st image hoping it would address the sporadic issue, but it didn’t prevent this occurrence (1st image).

Before I open a Ticket I thought I’d ask this fountain of institutional wisdom :slightly_smiling_face: for thoughts and ideas.

Sounds like a software bug to me. I’d open the ticket and note the times of the errors. Do you have PPVS enabled or disabled?

So I had this happen to me way back in May, and I was told it would be fixed in the next update. I enabled PPVS and the error has never happened again, so it was not fixed in the next update. I do not like the idea of PPVS that is why I had it off, but poor software made it so I had to choose that option. I turned all values to near minimum.

I do not have PPVS enabled. Instead I use Gentle Contact base on the phantom obstacles I & others have seen when using PPVS and the suggestion to use Gentle Contact here in the forum.

I will be the stereotypical IT support guy and ask, did you try rebooting the DC and Yarbo?

I had this issue at some point recently, might have been with the new firmware, but I rebooted everything and did not have the problem again. Luckily for me I can power cycle my DC POE port very easily, but if you can’t just do the manual unplug it for 30 seconds.

For me it actually showed my Yarbo off the charging pad by whatever distance it gave me even though it was parked on the pad fine.

I have rebooted the Data Center and Core two days ago (i.e. between the occurrences I screen shotted). Will do so again once it completes today’s schedule.

I put my DC’s power supply on an Eve Home’s Energy Plug. I can cycle power from the Home app on my iOS devices and Macs. This have saved me a couple time when things were not working and I was away from the house. A quick power cycle works wonders for Yarbo. :slightly_smiling_face:

This happened to me for the first time after the last update. Someone else reported this as well. I cant find the thread.

Im having the same issues. I also have ppvs turned off.

(force of habit) my smart plugs power cycle the Data Center 30 min. before a WP. Solved several issues early on. Kinda, an SOP - Work Flow right now so I can enjoy a cup of coffee

Had this happen 2/3 days ago just as described above.

PPVS and gentle contact (Obstacle avoidance) are two different things. PPVS is using wheel odometry and the IMU when the GPS is poor or not available to keep the Yarbo moving and “on track” (with some error) until good GPS is recovered. Obstacle avoidance uses vision (moderate and sensitive bypass) or bumpers (gentle contact) for avoiding things.

There has been some interesting bugs when PPVS is disabled (under settings, Yarbo labs). If it is disabled, this might be a factor to consider and try enabling it and then put the sliders at zero, or close to it so it is effectively disabled.

Yep! I have the same observations as @GROWF - lately I randomly get this error and the most annoying thing is that Yarbo is not resuming the plan when the GPS is stable and it’s within area.
I have the PPVS enabled.

It’s definitely some glitch, but i really don’t want to have yet another support ticket open where i have to go through all the AI horsecrap again and again with request to enable the “record the issue” toggle …

And this is the most funny part - they are asking us to record the issue for issues which occurs randomly. Should we go to some fortune teller to predict when the issue will happen, so we can switch the toggle button?

You turn the toggle on and then start the plan. Turn it off when you’ve reproduced the issue completely and then let them know the timeframes of the record/events.

This is too much …
I’m weekly running ~ 14 work plans … the longest ones takes about 7 - 10 h. Record issue will auto-switch-off after some time anyways.

Thank you for the suggestion. That sequencing had not occurred to me. I’ll be implementing that programming this afternoon. Thank you

Hi there, sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

To better understand the root cause, we may need to review the relevant logs from when the issue occurred. I’ve checked your ticket and asked the responsible team member to further investigate this issue.

We will continue following up through the ticket and provide you with an update as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

I just got this error last night. The more mysterious part is that I’m on firmware V3.13.15 and App 3.19.2. I have never encountered this error before. PPVS is enabled. Yarbo sat squarely inside an area and continued with Resume. I wonder if something on the backend is causing this?

Hi there, may I ask which DC version you are currently using?

If the issue still occurs, could you please submit a support ticket with a screenshot of the error message, a brief description of the situation, and the firmware, App, and DC versions currently installed on your Yarbo?

Our team will further investigate the issue based on the information provided. Thanks for your cooperation.

I’m on DC V1.0.25.

I just received this email regarding “Out of Boundary” and I consider this a good example of what I look for from Yarbo Support.

Specifically, it is Timely Communication, it is Informative, and most importantly Manages Expectations.

In many cases this is all that is needed to avoid an Owner from becoming frustrated. This is certainly all I needed.

"Dear Yarbo User,

Thank you for reaching out and for providing such detailed information along with the images. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused, especially given the impact on your mowing schedule during HOA-approved hours. We truly understand how frustrating this must be.

Regarding the “Plan Paused – Out of Boundary” error you have been experiencing, we want to let you know that our team is aware of this issue and a fix is planned for an upcoming hotfix release.

In the meantime, to help improve the situation, we recommend enabling PPVS in the app, which may help reduce the frequency of this occurrence. You can find this setting by navigating to:

Settings → Yarbo Labs → PPVS

Please make sure this feature is turned on and then resume your mowing sessions as usual. We hope this helps while the permanent fix is being prepared.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we are sorry again for the disruption this has caused to your routine. We will continue working to improve your experience with Yarbo.

Best regards,

[I removed the name as the specific individual doesn’t matter]

Yarbo Team"
