Yarbo stopped charging on docking station and manual charger is not charging

Yarbo worked fine yesterday. mowed about 10K Sq Ft and returned to docking station and recharged to 100%. Today, at 68% of a larger area it got down to 15% battery and then as configured returned to docking station to recharge. It recharged to 42% and stopped. I moved the rover off the docking station and set it to recharge. It returned correctly to the docking station and announced that it was ready to charge but charging failed. I plugged in the manual charger, and it also does not appear to be charging. I rebooted. Same result. Shutdown Yarbo, removed battery, reconnected and restarted Yarbo. Same result. I opened a support ticket, but thought I would try the forum as well. Any ideas?

Is your battery temp above 50 in the diagnostics?

Joseph,

The problem you described has likewise happened to my Yarbo. I have contacted support and they corrected the problem once which lasted about two weeks. Now this problem happens intermittently. When my Yarbo fails to charge I leave it on the charger and after a couple of hours I manually command a charge. Sometimes that works and sometimes not. If not, I wait another hour and command again. It has always begun charging within 2-4 hours. If it begins charging immediately but stops after, usually 45% to 55%, I tell it to resume work which it will do. When it automatically returns to recharge it has always then begun immediately and charged to 100%. I used to fret over it but this procedure has worked.

I just notice Bryan’s advice to you about the battery temp and that makes sense. Bryan is my go-to guy for answers — you can’t go wrong.

I have had the very same issue a few weeks ago. Yarbo abruptly stopped charging at 67%. I tried to move it out of the docking station and tried to send it for recharging. It correctly aligned itself on the docking station, but failed to recharge. After unsuccessfully trying to recharge it on the docking station, I tried charging it with the direct connection. I didn’t work either. Powering it down and turning it back on as well as unplugging the battery and plugging it back didn’t help either. However, the problem suddenly disappeared after a couple of hours. This makes me believe what Bryan mentioned above - the battery temp may have been higher and the software just prevents it from charging. It would be nice to see an error message on the app telling us to wait for sometime before attempting to recharge.

I’m having this problem today, but my battery temp is currently at 47. Won’t charge manual or on charging pad. I’ve tried rebooting and also removing the battery for awhile.

45C might be the “OK to charge” temperature. I’m seeing different numbers thrown around – even in different posts from Yarbo themselves. Does yours start charging again at that temperature, @michael2?

Mine started to charge at 48

See this thread

As Ken mentioned, the battery should be able to charge when the temperature drops to 45 degrees.

I am having this same issue but my battery is at 30C. There must be something wrong in the firmware. I have tried all the steps above and will not charge. I will leave it plugged in for awhile and see if it starts.

I finally became tired of messing with the autocharger. When my Yarbo returns to the charging pad it will begin charging (which also starts heating up the battery). Often times it will stop charging at about 50-65% and when that happens I tell it to resume mowing. It goes out and starts mowing again (which usually serves to cool the battery). When it needs recharging again I go through the same procedure as before. If I am charging at night usually the battery overheating is not an issue and it will return to recharge and then go back out on its own to continue to mow.

I do the same thing. Hoping they can solve this soon with a trickle/slow charge or some other clever charging tricks.
