[2024] How to Keep Firmware Up to Date

Updating your Yarbo firmware is key to ensuring you get the best performance and capabilities from your Yarbo device. Firmware updates introduce new features, improve existing functions, and help resolve any issues. Below, we’ll guide you on how to keep your Yarbo’s firmware up to date easily using the Yarbo app.

Why Should You Update Your Firmware?

Firmware updates are crucial for improving product capabilities and ensuring Yarbo remains as effective and efficient as possible. New versions are regularly released through the Yarbo App and are updated automatically using the built-in Over-The-Air (OTA) technology.

Note: Firmware updates only proceed if both Yarbo and your phone are properly prepared. Follow the steps below to ensure a successful update.

Keep Your Yarbo Firmware Up to Date

Checklist: Ensure Yarbo and Your Phone are Ready

Before starting the update process, it’s important to prepare both Yarbo and your phone. Here’s how:

  • Internet Connection: Keep Yarbo connected to the internet to facilitate the download of the firmware update.
  • No Active Working Schedule: Ensure that no working schedules are set for Yarbo in the next hour to prevent interruptions during the update.

Monitor the Update Progress

  • OTA Technology: Yarbo uses Over-The-Air (OTA) technology, which means the update will be conducted wirelessly through the app.
  • Make sure both your phone and Yarbo stay within good connectivity range during the entire process.

Post-Update Actions

  • Once the update is complete, Yarbo will restart, and you’ll be notified in the Yarbo app that the update was successful.
  • Verify that Yarbo is functioning properly, and you’re all set!

Tips for Smooth Firmware Updates

  1. Update at Off-Hours: It’s best to perform updates when you don’t need Yarbo for immediate tasks, such as during late evening hours.
  2. Stable Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your internet connection is stable to prevent any interruptions during the update.

This article is confusing.

How do we ensure Yarbo is connected to the internet?
How do you prepare our phone, and why is that important for an OTA firmware update?
Does the OTA update go through the phone to the Yarbo, or directly to the Yarbo from the internet. My interpretation is that OTA means Yarbo dowloads directly, but given the mention of the phone being prepared, I’m wondering if something is needed on the phone.
How do you actually start the update process? There is a mention of monitoring the progress, but I’ve been waiting for hours and nothing has happened. When I check the version in the phone app, it says it will start automatically.

Make sure your phone has the latest version of the app. If you just downloaded it from the App Store, you are good to go there. Make sure your Data Center is connected to the internet and online. Make sure your rover is powered up and activated in the app. It should start downloading almost immediately. Leave it idle (close the app for at least an hour to be sure) and it should start downloading. If it doesn’t, open a ticket with support because they will have to force it. Make sure it’s charging either wirelessly or with the wired charger while you wait for support to push it. Yes, it will download the firmware itself OTA. Look at the diagnostics screen and make sure your data center connection status is 2 and if so, it has internet access and so should your rover at that point. Check the HaLow connection status. If you see base, and or false, HaLow is not working and the rover doesn’t have internet access. The data center will need to be reinstalled in the app if this is the case. Also make sure that you have updated your data center firmware to version 1.0.25.

I think your comments should be incorporated into the main article to clear up some confusion.
