[2024] What Would Cause Yarbo to Lose GPS Signals?

I have good news to report. Nobody has asked me to make any more photos in 3 days. Also the side note is that nobody has contacted me for 3 days and informed me when my Yarbo will start working again. What’s the latest news regarding the GPS loss issue @Yarbo-Forum ?

I found another topic discussing having the rover connected to wifi causes GPS issues. I disabled/deleted the wifi from the rover via the app and GPS came back immediately. Mower completed 35% of the job and is currently back on the charging pad, but so far so good. Fingers crossed

Edit: When I got home and it connected to my phone via Bluetooth, GPS lost signal. When I turned Bluetooth off on my phone to disconnect, GPS came right back. Clearly something with the Bluetooth/wifi chip. Whether its firmware/software/hardware of that chip, I don’t know.

I wish Yarbo would publicly acknowledge this issue and either fix it or disable WiFi when HaLow is actively working.

There is almost no reason to enable wifi on the core unless support requests it. I believe the instructions still direct you to connect the core to wifi to insure the firmware updates, which is misleading and should be removed. Mine has never been enabled since it came out of the box. The failed network switching seems to be tied to a decent chunk of the GPS issues.

Agreed. Support loves to tell people to connect to WiFi too for no good reason other than I think it’s in the playbook from the 23 before it had HaLow.

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused. I’ve reviewed your support ticket and apologize for any oversight regarding the detailed information you shared. I’ve reached out to the technical expert handling your case to re-investigate the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Well, my optimism didn’t last long. My yarbo was only able to complete about 60% of the job before GPS went AWOL again.

Funny that it loses signal in the most open part of my yard and it tells me to drive it to an open area. Its literally stopped in the most open area possible.

This happened to me yesterday, as well, in one of the most open locations possible.
“AdjustAngleError”. 27+ sats, 15L2. Waited several minutes to no avail; moved the core a couple of feet and it “recovered”.

So, still some software glitches floating around.

I believe the extra time GPS stays red came in with V3.9.10. It takes longer to get AdjustAngle to 0 and Status to 4, and it requires more wide open sky, it seems.

Mine stood on the lawn for 3 hours yesterday, didn’t recover at all, had to drive it home in the evening. That thing is so freaking loud, with its high pitch from the gears it’s annoying the neighbors and my wife (yes the tracks are greased)

Added a ticket, support told me to exchange the RTK antennas with each other… did that, another try tomorrow…

We will see, still more of a baby to sit, than a autonomous yard robot. They have a long way to go…

My father raised some cattle and when I asked him why we did not raise sheep he said “sheep like to die.”

If you watched some of the videos you know that the tracks are not silent but they are a darn sight less noisy than a gas or diesel mower. Unless your Yarbo is substantially more noisy than the videos I am questioning how your neighbors and wife could hear it at all with the windows closed and A/C on.

I can’t hear mine on slowest. But I can definitely hear it on fastest. But it would be very hard for my neighbors to hear it at all unless they were outside.

That “ready to charge” always gets my wife when she hears that int he middle of the night.

(I know I can turn that off, but… well. )

First thing I did was swipe the volume slider to the middle and hit mute. Quite annoying when it’s randomly announcing things. Medium GPS signal. Weak GPS signal. @Ken failed to clear the yard of FOD. etc

I’m pretty sure I have a FOD farm…

@bryan.wheeler @ken.w.gregory We need to walk the area first every time. FOD is an ongoing thing with everyone. With all the storms in the area the last two days. Funny thing, so he’s been down waiting on parts. No rain, HOT, HOT, HOT. Then get everything in. Parts on and ready to get busy. GPS issues overnight. Then wait for the yard to dry enough to dry, with 50% GPS issues, enough to be very slow. Rain is like a flood for 45 minutes. Then Sun for 1 hour. Then rain off and on the rest of the day. Always tomorrow. Hope they get that patch or whatever they did before to calm things down with that bounce.

No yarbo didn’t get louder, it was always loud. It isn’t so much the volume but the high frequency that makes it annoying.

Not everyone has A/C in central Europe, we have floor and ceiling cooling via heat pump.

And we sleepbwith open windows.

I have mine running on slow or normal.

I almost wonder if Yarbo could sell a low-torque gear train that isn’t as loud.
Having all that reduction is great if we’re towing a car, but…

That, or a worm gear kit for those of us with hills. We’re not dragging these things anywhere, so might as well sell an option that’d fix that braking issue.
