Cutting Height and (Razor) Blade speed.

Hello all. I am inquiring as to what actually manipulates the HOC (Height Of Cut) and cutting blade speeds. Is it the blade drive motors/controller, or the front casters (For HOC, and module gap for Loose -Tight?) The reason that I ask is that I have mine set up to mow at 2.5 inches at slow speed with my module gap set on TIGHT and an 8-inch overlap, but after the plan is completed, it is obvious that the grass wasn’t cut. ACA (After Cut Appearance) clearly shows blades of grass at 3.5 inch and no signs of a cut. I have tried LOOSE module gap and TIGHT and get the same results. Yet some areas look good, and others show what I am addressing/questioning. Is there a (Any) setting in the app that I can access to speed up the cutting motors? (Note: Razors are sharp and replaced IAW Yarbo recommendations, and deck/module is cleaned regularly. Every other mow.) What settings should I consider changing to correct this? (I just changed back to LOOSE module gap to see if it helps that next go-around.) On a side note, I will add that the recent updates did not add new issues and did accurately address and correct the small issues that were explained by Yarbo. I have changed my contact setting back to moderated and it proved to pay off from previous issues. Thanks in advance for any assistance you choose to offer. (Except opening a ticket! Sorry on that one, but I’ve seen/read too many times how dragged out and dramatic those go.)

You cannot adjust blade speed on a yarbo.

Cutting height is controlled directly by the cutting motors. They raise and lower to set height. 3.5 inches is too high for the razor blades to cut effectively on cool season grasses like tall and blue fescue. It will miss or look pushed over with one pass. This is true of most cutting heights. Some blades will be pushed down and pop back up by the side guards, the deck, the tracks, etc. use a pattern like checkerboard and rotate your cut. Cut frequently like 2-3 times per week and with maintenance this should get the missing ones and be less obvious over time. Also going at the slowest speed will help cut more of the grass effectively too.

Thank you. I’m doing pretty much everything you addressed with the exception of the checkerboard setting. I am currently set up to parallel with a 30-degree angle change between plans. I’ll switch to checkerboard and lower my speed to slowest and see what happens.

Hi there, as others in the community have mentioned, the cutting height is controlled directly by the cutting motors, and there currently isn’t a setting in the app that allows you to manually adjust the cutting motor speed.

For the uneven cutting you’re seeing, in addition to Bryan’s suggestion of trying the Diamond pattern, you could also try enabling the Path Offset feature to see if that helps improve coverage in the areas that are being missed. Path Offset (Work Area) | Yarbo Wiki

Please feel free to keep us updated on how it performs after those adjustments.
