Got a replacement core due to an error that wouldn’t clear. The setup and transfer was fairly straight forward. The problem is that my restored map is now off, or I should say, Yarbo is about 5ft away from where it thinks it is. What is the correct procedure to fix this?
Part of the “new core process” is to do a DC Reinstall, and then pull the old core’s map from the cloud, which works ok, but then the process is murky.
If I drive to the dock, I can manually charge, etc, but Yarbo on the map is 5ft off of where the dock is on the map. If I do a “reinstall dock” then there is a new dock added in the wrong place. And Correct Map Drift isn’t allowed because it says “Your Yarbo isn’t on the docking station”, which…thanks Yarbo, the whole point of needing to correct drift is that Yarbo doesn’t realize it’s on the dock that it is well and truly on.
Since the DC hasn’t moved, and I changed to a new core, and the map is saved on the old core, new core, and the cloud…I can pretty much try anything…Reinstall the DC, Replace the DC, Correct Map Drift, add new dock, etc. I just don’t know what the correct process is.
Note that I haven’t received any “map drift” errors, so possibly as the Wiki says, this is a GPS issue that needs to remedy itself, I’m just not sure.
Ok, that attempt doesn’t have a phantom docking station. That may have been part of the issue. Is the core actively charging when you attempt to correct for map drift? Make sure it is. Make sure it’s lined up perfectly on the dock and the dock is in the original location that the map you are loading it for is.
I think that’s part of the issue. My battery is at 100% and not charging despite being properly on the dock. Yarbo seems to think not charging = not on the dock therefore no drift correction allowed.
I’ll let the battery drain some and try when it’s actially charging.
I agree with you that my first attempt was invalid after installing a new dock. Will try again the second way, on the active dock and charging, despite the map showing otherwise. But this part of the wiki is confusing.
Probably a mismatch situation between the app and the old firmware. They changed charging logic and map drift correction works even when not charging as long as it’s properly aligned. Definitely try it after you can get it to start charging. I’d drive it off the dock and let it drain so it doesn’t auto top off on you.
Hi there, thanks for sharing such a detailed description — that really helps clarify the situation.
For the map correction steps, you can refer to this guide: Map Drift Correction | Yarbo Wiki. It walks through the proper process step by step.
Also, as Bryan mentioned, the charging logic has been updated in the latest firmware. If your unit hasn’t received that update yet, we’d recommend trying the map drift correction while the Yarbo is actively charging, as this can affect whether the option is available.
That seems to have worked. I did the reinstall DC to clear any of my previous f-ups, let Yarbo drain the battery a bit. Centered it on the dock, manually charged, and then did the Correct Map Drift. It made two “corrections” and landed properly on the dock in the map now.
It would be worth adding to the Wiki for new cores, to not install a new dock, but get Yarbo perfectly on an old mapped dock, be sure it’s charging (not topping off), and then do the drift correction. The other unspoken part of the process is that you must have a map with a dock that has good (great?) GPS and has not moved since the core switch. If the saved map had no dock (or you moved it) a remap is all but certain.
Probably somewhere in the Wiki should be the recommendation that if you are one of those who likes to charge Yarbo in the garage or go without a permanent docking location, that they at least establish a set dock location on their map that they can turn on if needed. Otherwise, a core swap/map restore/drift adjustment may not be possible.
Yes, all good points. One thing to note as once you have the new firmware (3.13.0+) you don’t have to be actively charging for map drift correction to work. Just lined up properly on the dock.
I have the same problem. As i have not 3.13 i’m in 3.12.
I take some time to understand how to charge. When i try to click on recharge it say not on docking. You need to click on batterie status to launch recharge.
