Remap after getting replacement Core!?!

My Yarbo suddenly stopped being able to automatically recharge itself. After a video chat with support, they determined I needed to have my core replaced. I’ve got the new core now and couldn’t figure out how to move my maps over to the new core. I contacted support via email and was told this couldn’t be done. I can’t believe that! That’s such an obvious and basic thing. Surely their team has a solution for this.

Re-mapping all my areas and the dozens of no-go zones and configuring all the settings again would be a HUGE pain (consume at least half a day).

Please tell me how to transfer my maps to a new Yarbo. From a technological perspective, I see no reason why this would not be feasible.

Hi, I’ve read about others where support has transferred all maps from the old core to the new core.

I’m in the same boat, just received a replacement core for the same issue. When I asked support about this, they fist said:

Regarding your existing maps, while we cannot guarantee they can be migrated to the new core, I’ve contacted our R&D team to explore this possibility. I’ll keep you posted on what they say.

This was their following reply:

Regarding your request to migrate the maps from the old core to the new one, we can certainly attempt the migration. However, please note that doing so may lead to potential map drift issues, which can affect the accuracy of Yarbo’s navigation.

It’s possible as Randman posted. Just not recommended due to weird corner case issues that potentially could occur. However, if it is something you would like for them to do you could schedule a support call and see if they could do it for you. I heard it can take about an hour. Zoho Bookings

From a tech perspective, I’m at a COMPLETE LOSS as to why this is a difficult thing to ask for. i.e. Why is the map position dependent on Yarbo’s serial number?

It’s not like the GPS receiver in my new Yarbo is 10cm away from the position in my previous Yarbo. All the hardware (antennas and circuit boards) in my new Yarbo are likely within 0.1cm placement of the previous Yarbo. The Core module should operate 100% the same as any previous module.

Having map drift is unacceptable in my situation since I have Yarbo mow along the edge of a steep hillside that goes to a pond. I’m considering biting the bullet and re-mapping everything, but the thought of there being another failure in a few weeks then having to re-do this all over again is very discouraging.

Yarbo, why is this mapping functionality tied to a specific Core hardware? My charging station and Data Center have not moved. Those should be two solid reference points.

ALSO VERY aggravating… is that I mapped most of my no-go zones using a feature that is no longer available. You used to be able to complete a No-go zone by drawing an estimated straight dotted line between the start and finish points. Without this, I’ll have to use the rectangle or circle templates and make rough guesses as sizes and positioning.

@Yarbo-Forum can you assist here? This should be possible to transfer the maps.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience you’ve experienced with the core replacement and the map migration process.

As @randman77 mentioned, migrating maps between cores can sometimes lead to accuracy issues, which is why we usually don’t recommend it. That said, we understand how frustrating it can be to redo all the mapping, no-go zones, and settings from scratch.

If you’d prefer to transfer your maps from the old core to the new one, we’d be happy to help! You can schedule a meeting with our tech team to guide you through the process—this will speed things up and ensure everything is done correctly: Yarbo

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
