Looking forward to hearing about fewer clogs.
I removed the brackets and guards about two weeks ago, thanks to this thread, and boy, what a difference in constant issues from Yarbo. On my back yard, one mower motor or another would get clogged nearly every other pass. Since removing the bracket and guard I’ve had exactly ZERO motor issues.
I honestly believe it’ll help with reducing disc failures. One of my discs had failed when it hit a stick and flexed enough to get wedged on the finger guard.
Cut quality is still average, but the amount of effort it takes to keep Yarbo cutting is significantly reduced. This is a great improvement, and truthfully, should be included as a suggestion or requirement in the paperwork / manual / introduction to all new Yarbo owners. I honestly believe it would make a significant impact to the “first month” reaction of new owners.
Those are called Lawyer Guards…. You remove them at your own risk.
You wil very likely get grass blockages with them on and very likely won’t with them removed. I pulled mine early on.
They do provide some protection for the discs hitting the ground and certain objects but yes they do make a huge difference in clogging and from what I hear cut quality. I also know that is much improved at around 2.7 which seems to be the magic number people are happy with. I’ve been happy with 3 but no higher.
I took mine off as well when we talked about after my first clogged issue. Works great. I was thinking of dropping mine to 3”. I’ve got it at the same as I would normal cut 3 1/2”. May try the 3” I think it could get better. I also bought two extra cutting disc, and extra golden blades. One because I would love to have a backup set of blades. Also for quick change out of the disc with pre-loaded blades. The grass is super tough here in Northern GA. Hoping from what some have said the golden blades work better for tougher grasses.
I had took the finger guards off after my first mow of the year. I have had no problems for months. Another suggestion is to manually turn on the blades and raise them by 0.1 at a time until 4.0 after each mow. This will clean the underside good enough for the next time. Listen to the mower, if it growls for a second or two, it’s just knocking off the buildup. Take it slow or you’ll stall the motor and get and error. This might be a feature Yarbo should look at adding as an automated feature during mowing to help keep the underside open for peak proformance.
Good tip. I bet I get caught trying that.
If you get caught, no more firmware updates for you!
