Yarbo and DC won’t connect

Hello., just recently got my yarbo and would like to get it all set up before the snow comes. I have been having problems with connecting my core and data center. Only connections I can get are Bluetooth. Any advice appreciated. Core is sitting on the charging pad in my garage for the time being and the DC is outside with clear view of the sky, (have also tried with core outside.) get these pop ups any time I try to connect ether to wifi. Also that cellular toggle is on however did not do anything.

Support was not too too much help so wondering if anyone here has run into this before. Ticket number #253043

Can you post some screenshots of your diagnostics screen? RTK, status, Data Center, and HaLow sections. One thing to note, when installing the data center, your core should also be outside with a clear view of the sky. You want an “excellent” signal. Otherwise, you need to relocate your DC.

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear about the connection issues you’re experiencing.

This may require further investigation from our technical team. I’ve checked your support ticket, and could you please upload your proof of purchase to the ticket thread? Once we receive it, we can escalate your case to our Field Service Engineer (FSE) for further investigation.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We’ll do our best to help you get your Yarbo up and running as soon as possible.

@bryan.wheeler thanks for your speedy reply. Here are the screenshots you requested when I took them. I drove the Rover out of the garage by 20 feet into the middle of the driveway data centre was temporarily located another 10 feet from the Rover… still fair signal. This shouldn’t stop my Wi-Fi issue should it? I will move it somewhere with excellent signal if I can get this proof of concept working…

Note the screenshot of the opening page without the module is before connecting and screenshot with the module is after connected. It’s still, however, says there’s no module thought this was odd.

Also, I have that cellular turned on, and the usage went up from 3M however, I still have no way of accessing it remotely unless connected via Bluetooth

@Yarbo-Forum

Still waiting on the proof of purchase from the dealer will get that to your team ASAP. Wish that was not needed.

Looks like the firmware is behind a bit and that’s probably why you are running into this issue. Once you can verify that info with support, they should be able to remote in and help resolve this. In the interim, unplug the battery cable for 5 mins and power it back up and try connecting to WiFi again. If you get the same error, you’ll have to wait on support. If not and it connects, then give it 60 minutes with the app closed to install all the firmware updates. Then you should be good.

Okay thanks, will keep this thread posted. Out of curiosity what is the current firmware?

@bryan.wheeler One more thing is I don’t see the data center on my network. (Not sure what it’s called but didn’t recognize any new devices) Is that because it won’t let me Finnish set up? Or somthing wrong with TP-Link Omada? I have heard of issues with Unify wifi systems. I know it’s getting some connection because it’s powered on and plugged directly into my POE switcher.

(It did allow me to update the data center on first plugging it in)

Do you show a green link light where the data center is plugged into? On the network it will be a random name but once the core is initialized and connected you will see it on the same port as the Data Center and named YARBO. I know quite a few people using TP-Link and Unifi, so I don’t think it is that.

Yes there is a green light both on Poe switcher and. DC

The light would be on the port on your router. Sometimes they flash when data is being transmitted. Sometimes there is a dedicated “Link” light.

I’m not entirely sure what the original issue was, but things seem to be working now!

I moved the Data Center from my PoE switch to the supplied PoE injector, then connected the injector’s LAN port directly to my router. That allowed me to continue the DC setup, and I can now see “YARBO” connected to my network.

I was then prompted to update to version 3.14.20. After completing that update, I received a notification for another update, but it disappeared before I could check the version. I think it was something like 3.19.x.

The Core still won’t let me complete the Wi-Fi setup, but from reading through other forum posts, it sounds like connecting the Core to my home Wi-Fi isn’t necessary, and HaLow should be the primary connection between the Core and DC. Is that correct? Would you recommend leaving Wi-Fi disabled and Cellular disabled?

I’d also appreciate some advice on the Pro antennas. Since mine is a snowblower, I want to give it the best possible chance of maintaining a reliable connection throughout the winter. I’m in Northern Ontario, and the last thing I want is to be outside in February troubleshooting GPS or connectivity issues in the middle of a snowstorm.

Has anyone had experience upgrading to the Pro antennas? Are they worth it, and which antennas would make the biggest difference for HaLow connectivity or GPS reception? I’d rather get the setup right now than discover range or signal issues in the middle of winter.

Any advice is appreciated!

Datacenter is going back and forth between 3 and 2

Wifi disconnected, cellular on, pro antenna, yes. helps GPS for sure Data center flip flop is normal.

Your GPS is kinda low in Satellite count, so pro antennas will help, do all 3 if you can, if not at least the two on the core.

Everything looks like it’s working now. I’m not sure where you have core sitting currently but your Quality of 0.100 is not very good. It should read closer to 0.90 Did you get data center positioned to read Excellent?

I would leave WiFi disconnected and Cellular ON.

The Pro Antennas are highly recommended if you don’t have them.

Sounds like your DC wasn’t connecting to that switch properly. Totally worth the upgrade, but make sure your package doesn’t already include them. If they are skinny antennas about the size of the mount, then they are the standard ones. If they are bigger than the mounts, they are the Pro antennas. If not, I’d ask your dealer if they will give you some. Couldn’t hurt to ask first. Also agree with @cobradunn the placement of the dock doesn’t seem optimal and or possibly the data center.

Sounds good, thanks very much for the help guys. Will need to move still. All temp locations, data center red good but will make sure it’s excellent when up on my roof… I really didn’t want to permanently install without knowing it was set up well as I have paranoia from reading the forum:flushed_face:

If your antennas look like the ones in your snowblower screen shot, those are not pro antennas, those are just the regular antennas.

Correct. Kinda weird as the box showed pro antennas included but it was unopened… guess thats just packaging and app ui issues? app shows old snowblower and box showed it with the SAM module.

Also… under warranty in the app it says I have a SAM module warranty that was activated March 10th?

Yeah when I ordered I had a part say it was registered about 3 months before I even purchased it. In fact I need to do something as I got notice my extended warranty is starting, because of this false date.

Most likely when it was tested at the factory.
