I have fully mowed my 2 acre property (about 1.3 actually mowing) and the mower misses rows. It is all over, even in a wide open field. Is this normal? I mean I get a an inch or so, but this is huge. I was hoping it would settle out, but this is the norm. If I double cut it will still miss areas and leave patches. Any ideas on how to correct this?
By the stipes I would assume you have 0 overlap on settings.
Go to my yard - edit map - select the area- then settings and from there press the advanced settings. From there you can change the overlap. I have all areas set at the middle settings what’s for me is 10cm of overlap. This eliminated the same problem for me.
Make sure you’re cutting in 45-90 degree increments between cuts. Checkerboard will do this automatically. Set your overlap to 4 minimum if it’s zero. Obstacle avoidance can do this too. If you have vision (moderate bypass as an example), consider switching to bumper only (gentle contact). If you do switch it, make sure you have good NGZ’s defined for anything you aren’t comfortable with the bumper hitting and it navigating around.
They are working on making this better but those tips should help you get the missed grass. If you mow frequently 2-3 times a week it should also help it be less noticeable.
I would like to hear a solution to this also. I am mowing at slowest speed with 8 inch overlap and I still get about a 4 inch strip left unmowed now and then. If I immediately mow at an angle, of course, it catches the strip;however, I really don’t want to mow my yard twice as just one section takes 11 hours.
Remove the casters (find a way to push them upward to fool the lift sensors) and…
…find a way to attach omniwheels to either side of the mowing head?
…find a way to suspend the front of the mower (strap up and over the rover)?
The snowblower is cantilevered, and it does have some issues with the bucket scraping or being too high, as it does the opposite of what the rear end is doing. Doing a cantilever with a mower can also have issues, but, hey, if it’s the casters causing the problems, there’s your Helpful Alternative Custom Kludges…which I don’t plan on doing…I just rotate the mowing patterns.
I’m not sure it’s the casters. If you watch Yarbo crawl around in the app you can see it drift off course sometimes missing areas.
I’m not sure what’s causing it, but you can see it in the app when it’s happening.
At least that’s my experience.
Hi all. I have the default 4 inch over lap and I do rotate. We have had a crazy amount of rain so it is quite tall. If you look at pics 3,4,5 you will note the missed paths is slightly smaller than the mower width and one it is evident off course. This part of my yard is over 1/2 acre with 0 obstructions. I do have moderate bypass on, but used advanced to put sensitivity to zero. I will try to split this part out and set to bumper mode to test. I do have no go zones. I came from 3 years of running a Mammotion Luba 5000 AWD. Concepts are similar. I will post my map. After losing an antenna on a pine tree branch I have been Leary of completely disabling vision.
Very weird, it was 88 here and has been as hot as 97 and I only get the overheat during charging. Only seen my battery get to 43C when running in full sun.
Unfortunately I get overheat everytime I mow during sunlight. It’s been mostly in the mid 80s to mid 90s here in central Ohio. Night not so much although I try to avoid that due to the dew. I’ve only got to mow with it for a couple weeks though.
During this mow today I again got a weird off path and a Yarbo sized path not cut.
Seems like this is not a normal experience? I expect the the small misses 2 in and less to some degree. It is odd as these are at least 16 in wide.
Obstacle avoidance with vision this is fairly typical. It swings out wide and a lot of the times for any obstacle avoidance it can take a long time to track back onto the path line missing a lot of grass. They are aware of this issue and working on it.
It is very hard to get it to show up in pictures. What the mower does is start on the right path but angles to the last mowed path, follows it then corrects on the return leaving a path mostly unmowed.
There are no obstacles and it was mowed just a couple days ago. Also it is now in the other direction than the first set of pics. Diamond.
What’s it avoiding? You can see in the pic it is a wide open field. Grass is all the same height, it was mowed just a few days ago.
I get avoidance in other areas it moves around it. These are about 180-220 ft long missed paths…
Try with gentle contact and see if things improve. I am very happy with the outcome of using it. Only have one area I use vision for and that’s just because I haven’t put NGZ’s around trees. It gets closer without them and the other obstacles.
Just curious, are you running the app on an iPad? I’m in central Ohio as well and the over heat icon was on most of the day while mowing. The overheat icon was displayed on the iPad but not on the iPhone. Could have been weird timing I guess.
On an iPhone. It did stop charging, but now that the sun is down it is charging again.
Actually it was the iPad app running on my Mac. After checking the battery temp in diagnostics, I killed the app and re-launched it and the over heat icon didn’t come back on. Still could be odd timing…
I will set to gentle contact in the pictured portion, but it does it in my more complex areas as well. The front and side. All those weird holes on the right are spruce and white pines on the edge of a corn field. I chose to boundary around them. I have various other things like gardens, flower beds, and many other trees - just bare in the field though.
Ok FYI - I am on iPhone latest iOS, doubt that matters. Icon is there, but mower is charging. I will check the temps, once I figure that out. Have not payed attention to that yet.
